Ship's Boat: Lander and Shuttle Spacecraft

This is part of a science fictional background that I'm working on, in which I want to set a series of stories.

"Thunder" is one of two C-A/VO (atmospheric/vacuum operations) Omaha transport spacecraft carried aboard the security/exploration frigate H.M.S. Intrepid. The Intrepid is operated by the Royal Avalon Security Company. The boat "Thunder" and its sister craft, "Lightning," are used to ferry personnel and material during ship-to-shore operations or short interplanetary jaunts.

I had this idea for a (fictional) propellantless drive, which is a fine space drive, but it only works in vacuum. For operations in an atmosphere, you have to enclose it in a vacuum chamber. That's what the large watermelon-seed-shaped section is. Personnel and cargo are carried within the relatively small gondola that is slung beneath the lifter hull.

The propellentless drive within the lifter hull is capable of exerting between 1.5 and 2.0 gees of vertical lift. Additional lift and thrust can be provided by the two vectoring MHD/plasma jets on the port and starboard sides.

At some point, I'm going to try to draw the frigate H.M.S. Intrepid (the mothership) as well.
